Sailing Experience

   

The Ionian Sea is considered a perfect area for starters, however, to bareboat charter a yacht you do need to have the necessary experience and preferably sailing certificate. Less experienced yachtsmen or dinghy sailors may skipper a yacht in our flotilla. Skippers must give thought and consider, you will be sailing on the open sea, possibly an unfamiliar type of yacht, which is not the same as sailing open boats on an inland lake; There is also just the possibility for the winds in Greece to reach force 6 beaufort. 

Sailing in the flotilla: The flotilla leader will decide if the weather conditions are suitable for the flotilla to leave harbour. If however you prefer not to sail, you can decide individually to stay where you are and rejoin the flotilla later.

If you do not have a sailing license or certificate but do have the necessary experience  you can charter from Sunny Sailing. We will organise a sailing license for you in Greece during your check-in. 

More sailing and experience of the open sea is required for the Corfu and Zakynthos flotillas and for sailing in Turkey.

Ou Greek Lefkas fllotilla is the most appropiate if you are not so experienced or if you have children aboard.
